NIDA’s 2023 “$100,000 Start an SUD Startup” Challenge is Open for Submissions!
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is looking for teams of participants to submit their research ideas that may be developed into successful new products and startups that address many different aspects of substance use disorder (SUD), including social determinants of health (SDOH).
The potential startup founders must have the passion, drive, discipline, and ability to work collaboratively and have an eagerness to be coached by NIDA biomedical entrepreneurship experts. The teams must also have a research idea directly related to SUD or that could be extended or adapted to be useful for SUD. In Stage 1, up to 12 teams will be selected to receive a 6-month mentorship from NIDA biomedical entrepreneurial experts and may receive cash prizes of up to $10,000 per team in Stage 2.
NIDA expects that the new ideas and startups will contribute to the pool of innovative small business companies that can successfully compete for NIDA’s small business grants.
